University of Otago Global Scholarships
This applies to new international Bachelor's degree students commencing full degree study in 2025 or 2026 Semester 1 (February) or Semester 2 (July) intakes.
This is open to new international students from specific countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, India, South Korea, and China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau).
Students from eligible countries get NZD $15,000 tuition fee scholarship off for the first year of tuition fee. Unlimited offers are available.
University of Otago International Academic Excellence Scholarships
The University of Otago offers substantial scholarships for high-achieving international students who have studied overseas and will commence a full Bachelor degree in either Semester 1 (February) or Semester 2 (July) intakes.
For applicants, the typical GPA for high achievers falls within the top 1-5% of all applicants, with an expectation of at least a GPA equivalent to 80% or an A-. However, other circumstances and achievements may also contribute to the application evaluation.
These scholarships, valued at approximately NZD $35,000 include:

Selection for these scholarships is competitive and assessed by a panel, with results informed on an ongoing basis. The panel considers GPA, leadership, and other participation factors.
Notably, it is possible to hold both a Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship or Global Scholarship and an International Academic Excellence Scholarship, potentially bringing the total scholarship value up to NZD $50,000.
University of Otago International Partner Scholarship
This applies to international students applying to a degree programme through an established partner articulation agreement (e.g. 2+2, transfer, credit recognition), and they must be undertaking a minimum of 4 semesters at Otago.
Students get a scholarship valued at NZD $10,000 towards tuition fees off the first year of study at Otago.
New Zealand Based International Students: University of Otago Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships
This applies to international students from New Zealand schools or a New Zealand-based foundation programme.
International students get a scholarship valued at around NZD $35,000 through competitive selection alongside domestic students.
